Ryan Luciani of GoodFriend joined Demo Duck as Director of Photography on this spot for Rosie, an AI phone-answering service built to help business owners stay focused on the work instead of getting pulled away by every ringing call. The story follows a dog groomer in the middle of her job, hands wet, dog moving, trying to make it to the phone while running into one problem after another, only to miss the call in the end. It’s a simple idea, but it gave us a lot of room to make the chaos fun. We used a mix of techniques including a Snorri rig, probe lens, dolly zooms, and handheld work to make each moment feel a little more frantic and a little more physical. It was a very full one-day shoot and a big lift for the crew, but everyone showed up and made it happen. Having a very lovable dog on set definitely helped too.
